UNION, NJ – Nick Zuena was honored with a Mayor’s Award at this week’s Township Committee meeting for his achievement in winning the 152-pound division at the Union County Wrestling Tournament.

Zuena won 8-6 over Joe Delia of New Providence in the 152-pound final of the Union County Wrestling Tournament.

“Nick is the first Union High School wrestler to win the tournament in 12 years,” said Mayor Suzette Cavadas.  “Nick thought his chances were really high going into the Counties, and being seated Number 2 made Nick want to win the Counties even more.”

Nick is a senior at Union High School and plans to wrestle in college.  The Mayor said this Union wrestling season was named for Tommy Duffy who recently passed away.  He was the last Union High School wrestler to win the Union County Wrestling Tournament.  Duffy was one of Zuena’s role models.
