UNION, NJ —Thousands are expected to participate in Union’s three-day Mayor’s Weekend, which kicks off Friday night at 7:30 p.m. with ‘Movies Under the Stars’.

The movie, “The Jungle Book” will be shown at Rabkin Park, 1 Swanstrom Place.  Pre-movie activities include face painting and live animal presentations from the Turtle Back Zoo.  Free admission and free popcorn.

On Saturday, the ‘Welcome Fall Festival’, sponsored by ConnectOne Bank, is set to take place in Union Center, between Morris Avenue and Vauxhall Road.  The festival begins at 12:00 p.m.  Visitors can enjoy arts and crafts, vendors, various food, kid rides and activities.  Music will be provided by The Nerds.  The festival runs until 5:00 p.m.

Then, Saturday night at 7:00 p.m., ‘Union’s Got Talent’ participants will take the stage and show their talents at Union High School.  Tickets are $15. The event is hosted by UHS PAC and the Douglas Michael Kruger Scholarship Fund, and is sponsored by Investor’s Bank.

And finally on Sunday morning, the YMCA Kid’s Run Challenge and 5K Run/Walk, sponsored by Deep Indian Gourmet,  kicks off at Union High School.  Check-in for the event, hosted by the Union Chamber of Commerce and the Township of Union Board of Education, for the 5K begins at 7:45 a.m.  The 5K begins at 9:00.  Check-in for the Kid’s Run begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9:30.
