UNION, NJ – A mobile paper-shredding event for shredding confidential personal documents will be available Saturday, August 8, according to the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders. The event will take place at at 1000 Morris Avenue, in the parking lot near Green Lane on the campus of Kean University.
NEXCUT Shredding of Elizabeth will be shredding documents at the site from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 pm, rain or shine. (Event will end prior to 1:00 p.m. if the shredding truck reaches capacity.) All Union County residents are eligible to use the paper-shredding service. However, there is a limit of four, 10-pound bags or boxes per person. Documents should not be bound, and plastic binders and paper clips should be removed. Wet or damp paper will not be accepted. Documents should be of a confidential/sensitive nature only; residents should continue to recycle non-confidential papers and magazines through their municipal recycling program.
Residents are welcomed to view the shredding process via a closed-circuit television. Shredded documents are recycled, shipped to paper mills and used as pulp.
The mobile shredding program is paid for through New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Recycling Enhancement Act Grant Funds. For more information about future events or directions, call the Union County Recycling Hotline at 908-654-9889 or visit www.ucnj.org/recycle.
