UNION, NJ – Police have identified the motorcyclist killed Saturday night on Chestnut Street as Paulo a. Borges of Union.
Union police responded to the fatal crash near the intersection of Fairway Drive at 5:47 p.m.
According to police, a 2011 Lincoln MKZ, operated by 44-year old Emrique Martinez of Union, was making a left turn from Chestnut Street north onto Fairway Drive when the vehicle collided with the 2014 Yamaha motorcycle operated by Borges. Borges was transported to Newark Beth Israel Hospital where he succumbed to his numerous injuries.
Chestnut Street was closed for four hours while the crash scene was processed by police. Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing. Union Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Union Police Department Traffic Bureau at 908-851-5070.
