SPRINGFIELD, NJ - Work began today on the Mountain Avenue Bridge. It was originally scheduled to begin in August but the funding was stalled by a lack of funds at the Transportation Trust Fund. A detailed map of the detour is on the City website.
The full effect of the closure started to be felt Monday which coincided with the start of a full week of school. Police Chief Cook asked residents to leave a little earlier and to expect to add extra time for their commute. He also said, “Do not drive aggressively through any detour routes or roadways in general, especially where there are pedestrians present as there will be extra attention given by the Police Department to enforcement.”
Work is expected to be completed by December 30.
