UNION, NJ – A new exhibit opened at the Les Malamut Art Gallery on Thursday featuring the photography of Kulbir Singh Bhalla.
Bhalla, a resident of Monmouth County, is a mechanical engineer, a photographer specializing in nature photography and a published poet.
“It’s my pleasure to be here once again,” said Bhalla. Bhalla has had over 50 exhibits in New Jersey, including at the Les Malamut Art Gallery in the 1990s. “I love to show my work to the people,” he said.
“For this exhibit,” said Bhalla, “my focus was on nature -- animals, birds, flowers, and landscapes. Most of the animal photos were taken in zoos, where the challenge was to capture just the right moment.”
Exhibit guests included Shirley Malamut, who opened the gallery with her husband in 1988, museum curator Leslie Jenkins and Township Committeeman Manuel Figueiredo.
“I thank the gallery and friends who have contributed so much to the joy of art and the importance of it,” said Malamut.
“You have some beautiful photographs,” said Figueiredo to Bhalla, “and I thank you for sharing them with the residents of Union.”
The photography exhibit of Kulbir Singh Bhalla will be at the Les Malamut Art Gallery until August 29. The gallery is located on the lower level of Union’s public library.
