ROSELLE, NJ - After what started out as a dare between friends about 4 years ago, the “Neely Cemetery” located at 250 W. 7th Ave. in Roselle has become what most people describe as one of the most “eerie” homes in Roselle.

“We started doing a small display about 4 years ago, on a dare from a friend and it has just grown bigger every year,” said Bruce Neely the owner of what is now known as one of the most popular places to visit for Halloween.

“We started the synchronized music last year, and expanded the display this year. We start putting up the display the last 2 weeks in September. My girlfriend Teresa and myself really enjoy the reaction of the people who come to see it, and that is the main reason that we do it. People have fun. We watch them dance, and sing, and even clap after a song,” Neely added.

The Neely Cemetery also has its own Facebook page which can be found by clicking here. The page lists show times for lights and music. During the week the house is just lights with no music. On weekends the sound effects are turned on. There is also a radio channel if you want to listen from your car at 87.9 FM. The Facebook page also posts if they will not run the show due to inclement weather.

Neely noted, “I would like to thank my girlfriend Teresa, for all her help with putting up the display, Rick from Extreme Contracting for helping with the lights that I can't reach, and of course all the neighbors who put up with this.”

The show will not be running this Sunday evening due to rain in the forecast at show time. The show will be running on Halloween night from 7p.m. to 9p.m. According to Neely, he has had so many requests that he intends to keep the display up one more week.

Tuesday -Thursday, they will light up the yard from 7p.m. to 10p.m., lights and music will be on Friday Nov. 4, from 7p.m. to 9p.m.  The last light and music show will run on Sat. Nov. 5, from 7p.m. to 10p.m.
