UNION, NJ – Union resident and amateur photographer James Bowser, Jr. had his gallery opening on Saturday at the Les Malamut Gallery in Union. “Seeing the Beauty Around You” is Les Malamut’s newest exhibit.
Bowser, who took up photography five years ago, said he is inspired by flowers and their internal beauty. “If you look closely, you’ll see different patterns and distinctions and a lot of symmetry,” he said. Bowser’s photos were taken in Union and in St. George, Bahamas.
Bowser was born in Newark and has been a resident of Union for the past 20 years. He is a retired industrial engineer with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and an M.S. in Management Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. After retiring, Bowser joined a local camera club with the objective of learning the science of good photography and to have the opportunity to share his picture-taking experiences.
Bowser’s photographs will be on display at the Les Malamut Gallery, 1980 Morris Avenue, until April 29. The Gallery is open during regular library hours.
Leslie Jenkins, curator of the Gallery encourages all residents to stop by and see the many exhibits throughout the year. “The Gallery is a hidden jewel of Union,” she said.
