UNION, NJ – Union firefighters will soon be getting new personal protective gear via a recent grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
According to Union Fire Chief Mike Scanio, firefighter's protective gear -- coats, pants and gloves -- have about a 10-year lifespan.
Scanio and Battalion Chief Gregory Ricciardi said the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation donated $26,250, which will cover the purchase of ten sets of gear.
“This help from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is very much appreciated,” said Ricciardi.
Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation's mission is to impact the lifesaving capabilities, and the lives of local heroes and their communities. According to their website, “this is accomplished by providing lifesaving equipment and prevention education tools first responders and public safety organizations.”
