UNION, NJ – About 50 veterans received a free meal on Friday at Burnet B.B.Q., hosted by the New Jersey Veterans Network and the Operation Rebound Racing Team.

Nearly 50 veterans attended the event and another 50 food gift certificates were donated to area veteran organizations.

“For ten years Carlos Texiera of Burnet B.B.Q. has been helping our soldiers,” said Mike Boll, President of the New Jersey Veterans Network.  “He and Casale Pallets contributed the meals for this event and we are forever thankful to them.”

“No vet would ever go hungry if it were up to Carlos,” said Boll about Texiera.  “This is his way of giving back.”

Also at the event, a car and a bicycle were donated to veterans in need.  The car, a new Jeep Liberty, was donated by DeFalco’s Towing.  Resorts Casino donated a GT racing bicycle.

“Seeking help was the best thing that ever happened to me,” said veteran Michael Cummings, who received the bicycle.  “I was angry, I was lost.  These are the best people I could ever meet.  Words cannot express what this Network has done for me already.”
