UNION, NJ - A bank, a library, an Italian restaurant -- where will they POP UP next?
Union Center’s BCB Community Bank will be hosting free performances of 'Love Letters', a play by A.R. Gurney, the latest in a series of POP UP Theater events in Union’s Downtown Center presented by The Theater Project.
“BCB Community Bank supports and celebrates the cultural contributions that the Theater Project brings to Union,” said Marie Maguire, Union Center BCB Bank Business Development Officer/Manager. “Our signage says, ‘Born from the community, committed to the communities we serve’ and we live by that.”
'Love Letters' is a tender, tragi-comic examination of the shared nostalgia, missed opportunities, and deep closeness of Andrew and Melissa, two life-long friends. While spanning five decades and numerous locations, it is staged simply, with two actors letting their words describe a world of emotion.
'Love Letters' is being performed by life-long friends Gary Glor, a resident of Union, and Margaret Massman, working together again for the first time in 20 years. Both actors are originally from Buffalo, New York, hometown of A.R. Gurney.
This event is also part if the NJ Theatre Alliance’s Stages Festival, a month-long celebration of live theater offering free and discounted performances all around the state. Info on the Stages Festival can be found at njtheatrealliance.org/stages-festival. Thanks to the sponsorship of BCB Bank and the NJ Theatre Alliance’s Stages Festival, this event is free.
