ELIZABETH, NJ – Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park is seeking to identify a suspect in a homicide that took place in Elizabeth last month, announced May 10.
The Prosecutor’s Office today is releasing a video clip depicting the suspect, pulled from surveillance footage recorded at a nearby convenience store shortly after the homicide took place.
The suspect is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Elizabeth resident Michael Eargle. Elizabeth Police, responding to a report of shots being fired on the 1800 block of Lafayette Street, found Eargle at that location shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, and he was pronounced dead at the scene a short while later.
The shooting remains under active joint investigation by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force, Elizabeth Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit. The person depicted in the video was wearing a distinctive piece of clothing: a vintage, Starter brand University of North Carolina hockey jersey.
