UNION, NJ - Getting kids and their families off the couch, out of the house and into the community is the main purpose of Union's Rec on Wheels program, which had the first of six events on Monday evening at Hoppe Park.

"This is a great opportunity, after work and after dinner, to come out to your local park, have a little fun and enjoy the summer," said DJ Salvante, Superintendent of Recreation.  On Monday evening, kids and families played basketball, kickball, football toss and had some hula hoop fun.

Rec on Wheels meets every Monday and Wednesday in July from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
