UNION, N.J. – The third annual Riding For Warriors recently wrapped its cross-country motorcycle journey raising more than $17,000 for Hope For The Warriors and its A Warrior’s Wish program and granting five wishes for deserving service members.
Celebrating 11 years of service, Hope For The Warriors is a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family, and hope for veterans, service members and military families.
Through its first established program, A Warrior’s Wish, Hope For The Warriors fulfills a desire for a better quality of life or supports a quest for gratifying endeavors for those who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.
For the third year, the ride was led by Air Force veteran Michael Nehlsen and sponsored by Union, New Jersey-based Hillmann Consulting. Again, joining Michael Nehlsen on the more than 2,000-mile New England and Nova Scotia journey was New Jersey-native, Jeff Molesko.
Surpassing their $15,000 goal, the duo funded a maple syrup evaporator for a New York-based Marine veteran turned farmer, workout equipment and bikes for a Virginia-based military family and camper rentals, providing three military families accommodating camping conditions.
Riding in honor of dear friend Kevin Devine, and strong military and veteran supporter, who passed away this August, Michael Nehlsen shares what this ride means to them.
“Jeff and I are honored and proud to be part of the A Warriors Wish program through Hope For the Warriors,” said Nehlsen. “We are forever grateful for the sacrifices these warriors have made for the freedoms we enjoy.”
In three years, the proceeds from Nehlsen’s annual ride have sponsored 14 wishes through A Warrior’s Wish totaling more than $91,000 providing wounded veterans with woodworking and farm equipment, family trips, a saw mill, a horse trailer, a bass boat, two road bicycles and more.
“We continue to be amazed and grateful for Michael and Jeff’s dedication and commitment to military members,” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder and president of Hope For The Warriors. “These two gentleman truly understand the service and sacrifice made by military members and their families and we’ll be forever appreciative of their support to the A Warrior’s Wish program.”
