SCOTCH PLANS, NJ — Shortly after the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning Wednesday afternoon, motorists began reporting that Route 22 in Scotch Plains was closed in both directions due to flooding.
“I drove through some of it because I tried to get home, but it was near impossible,” said Mike DeBisco, who was forced to stop near Bowcraft Amusement park. “You can’t go on the road now. The rain is relentless. I might need to abandon my car.”
Others are reporting flooding on local roads, too, including West Broad Street between White Oak and Lamberts Mill Road.
Tonight’s Benjamins concert at Echo Lake Park in Mountainside has been canceled due to flooding. More on this story as it develops.
