UNION, NJ – Almost $100,000 in scholarships were awarded to Union High School seniors at the Class of 2017 Senior Awards night Monday night.

Senior Awards Night honors members of the Class of 2017 with scholarships, special recognitions, plaques and certificates. In total, 239 awards were given to 150 students.

A wide array of donations from local Township of Union businesses and organizations including the Union Historical Society, ConnectOne Bank, Township of Union Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Organization for Peoples Empowerment (H.O.P.E INC.), and the Union EMT were donated.

Scholarships were also awarded in memory of Douglas Michael Krueger, Jason Lopes, Crystal Scretchen and Jeff Bubnowski.  Numerous Union High School Clubs, Athletic Teams, and alumni also contributed.

“It’s amazing that the students have this opportunity and it gives them something to strive for,” said Union High School Principal Corey Lowery.  “It also is great to see that the community is so supportive of our students.”
