UNION, NJ – A grand re-opening of Springfield Avenue, in the historic Vauxhall section of Union, is scheduled for Friday, May 31, at 5:00 p.m.
All residents are invited to attend the celebration, which will be located in the parking lot of Joe’s Pizzeria, 2062 Springfield Avenue.
“The Township of Union is proud to bring the ideas and inputs of our residents to life with the Springfield Avenue Streetscape,” said Mayor Michele Delisfort. “As a Professional City Planner, I believe projects like these impact our community in such a positive way. They not only enhance the physical form, but they also impact the socioeconomic conditions in our neighborhoods. This improvement will enrich our sense of place, attract patrons to existing businesses and ensure added investment to the corridor and surrounding streets.”
The Grand Re-Opening Celebration will be filled with live music by local DJ Senseless and food will be provided by Joe’s Famous Pizzeria, Mama’s Southern Style BBQ II, and Nunzio’s Charcoal Grill.
“As a longtime resident of Vauxhall, I am in awe with the work that was done on Springfield Avenue,” said Township Committeeman Clifton People, Jr. “The Streetscape Project has satisfied the needs of our community and has re-established our thriving business district. I am excited and cannot wait to see my neighborhoods continued growth.”
