UNION, NJ – The staff of two local schools will clash on Friday, March 24, when Battle Hill Elementary School takes on Washington Elementary School in a series of volleyball games to benefit the Heavenly Hats Foundation.
The event will host five games. The best of the five games wins the six-foot trophy, to be held in the school of the winning team until the rematch next year. Organized activities will be available for students to participate in between games.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Heavenly Hats Foundation. The Heavenly Hats Foundation collects and distributes brand new hats of all kinds to those heroes of all ages who lose their hair due to the treatment of cancer or the many other medical conditions which may cause hair loss. The Heavenly Hats Foundation was founded by teenager Anthony Leanna when he was only ten years old.
Students are encouraged to wear a “crazy” hat to the event. A hat parade will take place after the second volleyball game. Two winners of the hat parade will be selected: The female winner will receive a free month of dance class and the male winner will receive a free month of karate.
Student councils will be selling Philly Pretzels and bottled water. Students are encouraged to wear their school colors. The first 200 attendees from each school will receive a pom-pom made of their school colors.
The event takes place in Union High School’s main gym, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The entrance fee is $2.00.
