ROSELLE PARK, NJ —  A nine-hour standoff with police and the Union County SWAT Team in Roselle Park ended at 7 a.m. Sunday morning with an apparent suicide, according to witnesses. According to people at the scene, a man walked to his front door then retreated back inside, then a single gunshot was heard. Sources say that the Roselle Park resident is believed to have been a U.S. Customs officer. His name is not being released at this time. 

Roselle Park Police and the SWAT team responded late Saturday evening to the home on Sherman Avenue on a report of a resident barricaded in a house. A friend had expressed concerns regarding the resident’s safety, prompting the police response.
