UNION, NJ – The Union Public Library was evacuated Wednesday morning when a suspicious powder was discovered.

According to a witness on the scene, a white powder was found inside a book while a staff member was checking in the book.  Union police arrived on scene and cleared the library.  A Union County Hazmat team was on scene investigating the incident.

The substance was deemed non-toxic.  The library opened about 45 minutes later.  No additional information is currently available.
