UNION, NJ – The Mayor and Township Committee recognized The Red Cadillac as May Business of the Month at last week’s township committee meeting. Accepting the award were business owner Joe Montes and members of his family.
“The Red Cadillac not only has a reputation for providing great food, drink and comfort,” said Mayor Manuel Figueiredo, “but they are valued community partners that are truly invested in seeing our Township thrive.”
Joe Montes and his family have a long history in the Union restaurant industry. First with Primos Restaurant in 1987 through their most recent venture - The Red Cadillac.
The Red Cadillac serves up signature Mexican comfort every Wednesday through Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. The Red Cadillac supports school activities and events, local teams and charities and participates in organized events like “Taste of Union” and “Santa in Blue.”
During Hurricane Sandy, due to their large social media presence, The Red Cadillac was able to connect the community to what was going on around town. They became a “charging station” for anyone in need of power and took the initiative to relay important information to residents.
In their six years, The Red Cadillac has been recognized and supported by The New York Times and The Star Ledger; they were Voted #1 Mexican by New Jersey Monthly and have been featured on Good Day New York and Fox 5.
They are in current negotiations with N.J. based Lairds Bottling & Distillery Co. to bottle their homemade infused tequila.
