WOODBRIDGE, NJ - Nneka Moneme scored 17 points to lead Union's Girl's Basketball to a 48-33 win over Woodbridge.
Woodbridge trailed by three at the half, but Union outscored it 20-10 in the third quarter to take a 13-point lead into the fourth. Krizia Aponte added nine points for Union.
Brooke Timinski led Woodbridge with 20 points, including six 3-pointers. Jordan Vazquez contributed with six points and five rebounds. Najyah Adams finished with four points and 13 rebounds.
Also in Girl's Basketball, Allison Seater's 22 points led Union to a 55-51 double overtime victory over East Brunswick.
Union took control early, outscoring East Brunswick 12-4 in the first quarter while holding a 19-12 lead at half. A close third quarter kept East Brunswick still down by six points entering the fourth. East Brunswick used a 13-7 fourth quarter to force the game into overtime.
No team was able to pull away during the first overtime, both scoring an even eight points. But, during the second overtime, Union pulled away while playing stellar defense to solidify the win. Nneka Moneme added 17 points in the win.
In boy's basketball, Ezra Levitt netted 14 points for East Brunswick in its 50-38 victory over Union in East Brunswick.
Jesse Perel, Gil Wyman and Dante Ralph added six points each for East Brunswick, which outscored Union 20-7 in the fourth quarter after trailing 31-30. Corey Thelisme scored 11 points for Union and Ryan Dolce was in double figures with 10 points.
