UNION, NJ – Edna Bailey has been the Director of Music Ministries at Townley Presbyterian Church for 55 years.
In honor of her years of faithful service and her upcoming retirement, the congregation welcomes former choir members and other guests to celebrate and honor Bailey on Sunday, January 29.
A special service will feature mostly music, led by Bailey. “Edna is a consummate professional. The church’s best energies were located primarily in the Chancel,” said a former pastor.
Bailey, a New Jersey native, graduated from Wyoming Seminary and Westminster Choir College. She moved to Union in 1960 with her husband James and their daughters Sharon and Lynn. Soon afterward, Bailey accepted the position of Director of Music Ministries at Townley.
In addition to serving the church, Bailey taught vocal music in the Roselle Park school system for 25 years. She also sang for many years with the Choral Art Society of New Jersey.
The public is invited to Townley Presbyterian Church at 829 Salem Road on Sunday, January 29 from 10:00 – 11:15 a.m. to hear current and former choir members and celebrate the generous gifts of their director and friend, Edna Bailey.
