My name is Michele Delisfort. I am the daughter of two Haitian parents who moved to the Vauxhall section of Union Township one month following my birth. After completing high school, I attended Rutgers University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning.

My roots run deep in this community, so I chose to return with my husband to raise my family.  Professionally, I am a licensed Urban Planner and a small business owner with 20 years of experience.  I come from a large family that holds strong beliefs about helping and supporting your neighbor and improving your environment by using ones knowledge and skill-sets. In my opinion, fulfilling your civic duty is the perfect environment to accomplish that mission.

Accordingly, eight years ago, when I became a member of the Planning Board, I welcomed the opportunity. As a member of the Planning Board, I was provided with the opportunity to be a part of a team that reviews & approves a variety of planning studies & development initiatives that could complement or build upon the merits of our Township.  It is truly a wonderful feeling to give back and to see the applications that I supported manifest into beneficial projects that proactively addresses our inevitable population growth, like the expansion and renovation of Central Five, the Union Center mixed use development initiative (Diversified) and Avalon Bay, the residential development on Vauxhall Road.  As an Urban Planner and small business owner, I understand local government, finance, small business concerns and the needs of our community.

As a Township committee candidate, I look for your support so that I can serve you with the same leadership, diligence, commitment and passion that I’ve demonstrated during my tenure on the Planning Board and in my professional life.
