UNION, NJ - After receiving a private donation of 150 uncooked turkeys with fixings, the Township of Union Committee gathered on Thursday with local officials and clergymen to distribute them to community members in need.
“We do have some people in our community that need a little extra help,” said Mayor Manuel Figueiredo. “What we’re doing isn’t just helping them put food on the table, but helping them create that warm environment that brings about the togetherness that the holidays are known for.” The turkeys were distributed through St. Paul’s Calvary United Church of God. Among those joining the Mayor were Union County Sheriff Joseph Cryan, Reverend Samuel Wright, Committeemen Joseph Florio and Clifton People, and Township Administrator Ron Manzella.
