UNION, NJ - Two people were injured after the ceiling collapsed at the Galloping Hill Caterers at Five-Points on Saturday night.
According to Union Fire Chief Michael Scanio, firefighters were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:30 p.m. On arrival, firemen discovered a 10 x 20 foot suspended ceiling had collapsed.
Fire personnel removed two people from the building, said Scanio. They were treated for basic injuries and transported by Union EMU. Firemen continued to search the remaining area for additional victims and none were found.
The area was stabilized and secured including the electricity to the affected area. The Building Dept. was requested to respond because of a possibility of additional portions of the ceiling could collapse.
The status of when the business will be able to re-open was unclear as of Saturday night.
