UNION, NJ – The 12-year old Union boy struck by a hit and run driver on Wednesday evening has died.

The child was rushed to University Hospital in critical condition.  Police say he succumbed to his injuries Friday morning.  The incident occurred on Galloping Hill Road near Forest Drive at about 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.   The driver of a white work van struck the child as he walked along Galloping Hill Road.  The driver fled the scene.  Police say the driver notified the owner of the Edison-based company, who notified Union police. 

No details on the identification of or services for the child are currently known. 

Union police continue their investigation into the incident.  The identify of the driver has not been released.
