UNION, NJ - At two different locations in two different days, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders defeated the Union Farmers, 4-0, in the first round of the NJSIAA group four, section two, state tournament.

The game originally started on Monday afternoon at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, where six out of the seven innings were played. Before play started in the top of the seventh, the skies opened up, and after a 40-minute rain delay, the game was suspended - with Union down to its final three outs. The continuation of the game set for Tuesday, and the location was changed hours before game-time to Union high school.

George Mueller and Jake Canavan each had an RBI single and Peter Warren and Colin McAlindin each added two singles to lead fifth-seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood to a 4-0 victory over 12th-seeded Union.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood advanced to Thursday's quarterfinals and will visit fourth-seeded Millburn, No. 7 in the State Top 20.  Jack Defouw allowed six hits over six innings with no walks and a strikeout to get the win.  Steven Dembeck took the loss for Union.
