UNION, NJ – A tradition in many churches across the United States, a Women’s Weekend Celebration took place at Union Chapel Church on May 20-21.
“The focus is on recognizing the contributions that women have made to the family, church and community,” said Union Chapel Church Rev. Dr. Samuel Wright, Jr. “We honor God by bestowing honor on the many women who serve in various capacities in the local churches.”
Union Chapel observes women’s weekend the week following Mother’s Day. This year’s luncheon was held at The Westwood in Garwood. Traditionally on Women’s Weekend, Sunday morning sermon is delivered by a woman church member or a guest speaker from another church, said Wright.
“Through the efforts of Lady Patricia Wright, chairperson for the Women’s Fellowship Ministry,” said Rev. Wright, “the weekend has grown and fueled tremendous anticipation, fostered new relations and solidified long standing ones.”
Wright said women of all ages are encouraged to participate through “sharing their gifts, talents and ideas.” He said the Sunday worship service is the culmination of much preparation, cooperation and prayer. "Congratulations to the women of Union Chapel Church for a weekend of good fellowship, music and worship."
