UNION, NJ – The Township of Union Fire Department rolled out its newest engine on Friday.

Township officials, firefighters and others were on hand as Father Charles McDermott blessed the new engine.

According to Fire Chief Tom Byrne, “this new engine will serve the entire community.  I am proud to have served on the committee that helped design the truck”.  The committee also included two officers and two firefighters from each platoon.  The Chief said the engine has a foam pumper and will hold 750 gallons of water and 150 gallons of foam.

Mayor Manuel Figueiredo said, “The Township Committee continues its commitment to public safety by continuously supplying the latest in apparatus to our first responders. Our new fire engine, with state of the art technology, is a testament to this commitment directed towards the safety of our residents.”
