ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – One lone wrestler represented Union High School at the 2017 NJSIAA Individual Wrestling State Championships at Boardwalk Hall this weekend.

Nick Zuena was one of 448 wrestlers in this year’s tournament, the largest group of wrestlers to compete in New Jersey state tournament history.

After placing second in Region 4 last weekend, Zuena was seeded No. 23 in the 152-pound weight class. The senior lost both matches he participated in over the weekend.

On Friday in the tournament’s opening round, Zuena dropped a 4-0 decision to James Caldwell High School’s Gerald Jones. Pushed to the consolation bracket, Zuena lost a 7-4 decision to Emerson/Park Ridge’s John Garda.

Zuena finished his senior season with a 34-7 record for the Farmers.
