UNION, NJ — Threatening weather necessitated the Union High School graduation ceremonies to move inside to the high school gym, but did not diminish the excitement and enthusiasm of the graduates.
“Even though we still have a long road ahead of us,” said Andre Marques, Class of 2017 Salutatorian, “as many of us pursue further education and all of us enter the real, adult world, it’s good for us to just take this moment to take a breath and pat ourselves on the back for all the work we have done this year and our entire lives.”
“We have all impacted each other in some way,” said Class of 2017 Valedictorian Victoria Stiritz. “The lessons and memories we experienced here will stay with us indefinitely. As we all get ready to go our separate ways, whether it’s to further our education, start our career or go into the armed forces, I wish you all the best of luck in the future. No matter where you go or end up, know your roots.”
Asking the graduating students to stand, Princpal Corey Lowrey said, “I’d like you to give your parents, relatives, counselors, teachers a standing round of applause.”
“I hope the experiences you encountered at Union High School have created everlasting memories and lessons that you will cherish for a lifetime,” continued Lowrey. “You have met all the challenges Union High School has presented and have proven yourself to be successful, accomplished and worthy to move forward.”
