UNION,NJ - Union Goes to Hollywood is a two night musical event produced by and benefiting the Union High School Performing Arts Company, in partnership with the Encore Orchestra of New Jersey. The show will be broken down into four sections: Classic Hollywood Movie Musicals, Disney, Action and Adventure, Modern Moments; and will star UHSPAC students from the past, present and future. Don’t miss your chance to see this once in a lifetime show, unique only to the UHSPAC; Friday, December 11th and Saturday, December 12th at 7:30pm. Please visit www.uhspac.com to purchase tickets and for more information.

The success of 2014’s Union Celebrates Broadway inspired the creative team to create a new show featuring UHSPAC students, along with UHSPAC alumni, elementary and middle school students. Senior Jonathan Duvelson shared “Being in Union Goes to Hollywood allows me to expand my knowledge about Musical Theater history through our material, as well as enhances my performance through all the wonderful people I get to share the stage with. It’s truly an incredible opportunity and experience.” Union Goes to Hollywood is a celebration, featuring music from some of Hollywood’s most iconic films including Wizard of Oz, Singing in the Rain, West Side Story, The Lion King, Aladdin, Hairspray, Rocky Horror Picture Show, A Chorus Line, Chicago and so much more! The show will also feature a performance from the cast of UHSPAC’s spring musical Mary Poppins. Union Goes to Hollywood will follow a young girl as her family gives their account of the movies they hold near and dear to their heart. Director James Mosser said, “This project has been an incredible experience. It is a chance to explore so much iconic and interesting material. In addition, getting the chance to work with our alumni who have been out in the world working professionally is wonderful. We get to see how they have continued to grow after leaving us.”

The Union High School Performing Arts Company continues to remain one of the strongest arts training programs for high school students in the state of New Jersey. The UHSPAC is inclusive of an award winning theater department, a nationally rated instrumental music program, and a top-notch choral music group. The Theater Department has been nominated for over 104 prestigious Paper Mill Rising Star Awards, an event that recognizes excellence in high school theater, similar to the Tony Awards. They have won 27 awards and currently hold the record for the most wins ever won by a single show for their 2015 production of Duke Ellington’s Sophisticated Ladies, winning 9 awards.
