UNION, NJ – Township leaders and Union firefighters joined ShopRite of Union in the store’s annual “Help Bag Hunger” event on Wednesday.
Cashiers collected donations for ShopRite's Partners in Caring Fund to help fill the shelves of local community food banks.
“We’re all in this together,” said volunteer bagger and Township of Union Fire Chief Thomas Byrne. “Partnering with ShopRite to raise funds for community food banks is a home run. We’re happy to be involved.”
ShopRite Customer Service Manager Carlissa Atwater said, “ShopRite has been involved in Partners for Caring for 16 years.” Atwater said cashiers ask customers for a donation of any amount for food banks in the community. “It's great helping out food banks in need," she said, "and it’s fun."
“ShopRite is a major company giving back to an organization in need,” said Township of Union Manuel Figueiredo. “We’re back again this year because it’s a great cause.”
