UNION, NJ - The Green Lane Civic Association was renamed to Wood Low Neighborhood Association on Feb. 12 by residents who live on Woodland Ave and Lowden Ave in Union, off of Green Lane by Kean University at a neighborhood meeting.
Green Lane Civic Association started many years ago and went dormant after two of the leaders of the group passed away. Brian Cave, who moved to Union in April 2016 and had been the President of his neighborhood association in Round Rock, TX, wanted to get to know his new neighbors and could not find any information on a neighborhood association for his new neighborhood, so he went to every house in the neighborhood and invited them to meet to discuss creating a neighborhood association called, Wood Low Neighborhood Association. Neighbor’s informed Brian there used to be an association called Green Lane Civic Association.
However, the residents of Woodland Ave and Lowden Ave, liked the new name and thought it would be best to change it since there are now condo complexes on Green Lane that have their own HOAs. Also, at the Feb. 12 meeting the residents approved the new by-laws for the new association and elected Brian Cave as the President, Chris Devanney as the Vice President, Kathy Arminio as the secretary and Maria Schmidtberg as Treasurer.
Some of the items the association will be focusing on in the beginning is coordinating a block party, attending a public hearing on a park development project for Kennedy reservation in the neighborhood and addressing Kean University’s plans to build new dorms behind the homes of some of the Wood Low Association residents.
