UNION, NJ – Union police have issued an alert through social media for residents to be attentive to their parked work vans and trucks.
According to the Facebook post, “we have had an increase in burglaries into work vans or trucks over the last few months. We have also had several vans and pickup trucks stolen.”
Police recommend residents not leave tools in a work truck, if possible. If it’s not possible to remove the tools, police recommend getting an alarm and a GPS tracker for a work vehicle.
Another tip offered by police is to block the work truck in the driveway if possible. Police say many of the crimes have happened between 3:00 – 6:00 a.m. while the truck was parked near the owner's home.
