On Wednesday, June 7, The Rotary Club of Union will be hosting its annual Eloquence Soiree at the Galloping Hill Inn in Union, NJ. The Eloquence Soiree celebrates students from the Union High School who compete in the annual Speech Contest for scholarships.
That evening, they will present the Rotary Excellence in Education Award to Thomas Matthews, Principal, Washington School, Kathryn DiGiovanni, Principal, Hannah Caldwell School, Benjamin Kloc, Principal, Livingston School, Michelle Osborne-Warren, Principal, Connecticut Farms School,Mark Hoyt, Principal, Battle Hill School, Latee Walton-McCleod Principal, Franklin School,and Jason Sterlacci, Teacher, Burnett Middle School, Jeopardy Teachers Tournament of Champions Winner honoring their commitment to education and longstanding support of the Rotary's Marvin Orella Speech Contest.
The Speech contest is entering its 20th year, and through the generous support of those that have attended the event, Union Rotary has been able to provide $1000,000 in scholarships for local students since the contests' inception in 1997. This event starts at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public to hear the speeches and celebrate as the winners are announced. To help raise additional funds, their will be a 50/50 raffle, Basket Auction and Ad Journal.
