UNION, NJ – A flash flood watch is in effect for Union through Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop throughout the day on Saturday into Saturday night. Rainfall rates of one to two inches an hour are possible.
Areas of urban and poor drainage flooding are likely, with flash flooding possible in locations that experience successive thunderstorms moving through.
With two to five inches of rainfall since the start of the month, some river basins are particularly vulnerable to flash flooding. This is especially true for areas along quick responding creeks, streams and small rivers that are already running at above normal levels for this time of year.
