UNION, NJ – Cheerleaders from the Union Unicorns and the Union Ultimates won first place in their divisions at the Fall Young Champions competition on Saturday in Roselle.

“As much as I am proud of their first place wins,” said Cheer Coach Stephanie Long, “I am proudest of their sportsmanship.  These girls cheered for every team and were gracious winners.”

The Union Unicorns, for girls ages 4-7, ranked first in the Junior Stars Division.  The Union Ultimates, for girls 8-13, placed first in the Stars Division.

The cheerleaders competed against other Young Champion squads from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.  Each squad performed a 30 second cheer followed by a one-and-a-half-minute dance routine which incorporated all cheer moves learned throughout the season.
