UNION, NJ – Union’s 4th Annual Farmers Market kicked off Thursday afternoon with a variety of produce, food trucks, and even ice cream.

Ort Farms, a family owned farm located in Long Valley, is the market’s exclusive farmer.  Ort Farms, brings their famous homegrown corn, tomatoes, vegetables and more. 

Food trucks include Soul Bowls, serving hand-crafted acai, pitaya, banana and coconut bowls, topped with homemade crumbled “soulnola” and fresh, local fruits. Tropical Taste features a unique cooking style of exotic blends from travels around the Caribbean region and world.

Cheezen offers grilled cheese sandwiches, pulled pork and BBQ sauce.  The Empanada Guy, one of the fastest growing gourmet food trucks in New Jersey, is back specializing in empanadas and other traditional Latin dishes.

El Lechon De Negron, a local favorite, specializes in authentic Puerto Rican pig roast, empanadas, transitional cruisine and their famous disco fries.  Paolo’s Kitchen is back with their fresh, home-cooked meals.

A local business, Jersey Buzz sells raw honey, the concentrated nectar of flowers that comes straight from the extractor. It is unheated, pure, unpasteurized, and unprocessed.

 And local favorites, Magic Fountain Union Creamery and Le Bon Pretzels will be on hand each week at the Farmers Market for fresh, soft pretzels and new seasonal ice creams.

At Thursday's market, face painting was provided by Sill Cheeks and live music entertainment from Tru-Sol, a Jersey City male quartet.

In its 2nd year, Union Center SID has brought music to the Union Farmers’ Market starting last year with Jazz Thursday’s. This year, the Sounds promises to bring various genres of music and sound throughout the season with Rock, Jazzy Blues, Folk, Americana, R&B, Soul, Latin Jazz, and Oldies from the 60’s, 70’s and more. This year the entertainment is on a bi-weekly schedule from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
