UNION, NJ – She began singing as soon as she learned to talk and she’s been singing publicly in church since age six and playing guitar since she was eight.
Grace Rivera, one of the performers in the upcoming Union’s Got Talent, says she’s still a “work in progress.”
In Union’s Got Talent, Rivera, 15, will be performing a ‘mashup’ of two songs: ‘Dear No One’ by Tori Kelly and ‘No One’ by Alicia Keys.
Rivera, a 10th grader at Union High School, is a huge Tori Kelly fan and “one day I was watching her videos and found that she had done this mashup”. Rivera was inspired and began practicing until she mastered it. “I feel I’ll definitely stand out being that it’s two different songs with similar stories and meanings."
“It means a lot to me to be in Union’s Got Talent”, said Rivera. “It's pretty exciting to be given the opportunity to perform. I'm stoked to just have an excuse to sing and meet new people.”
Rivera would like to continue singing in the future. “I want to do a lot of things,” she said. “Right now it's musical theater because it gives me opportunity to sing and act which are my two favorite things. I'd also like to write music one day.”
Union’s Got Talent will take place on Saturday, September 24, at 7:00 p.m., at the Union High School Theater.
