UNION, NJ – Lisette Serrano began singing and dancing for her family when she was young. She moved on to performing in dance recitals, competitions, school concerts and musicals, and camp theatre musicals.
Serrano, 15, will be singing “What I Did for Love” from the musical, “A Chorus Line” in the upcoming Union’s Got Talent.
“I remember getting introduced to the music from this musical in fifth grade, and I completely fell in love with the music,” said Serrano. She ended up performing the song in her musical theatre class, and “my teacher told me that this was the perfect song for my voice, so I thought it would be a wonderful experience to compete with it.”
When asked what it means to be competing in Union’s Got Talent, Salerno, a tenth-grader, said, “it is absolutely incredible that I get to showcase my talent in front of a live audience, and I could not feel more ecstatic.”
Serrano aspires to be a Broadway star. “Nothing can compare to live theatre, and being in shows is such a thrilling experience that brings me so much joy.”
Serrano said performing has shaped her personality and she would not be as outgoing if it were not for her passion of performing. “I could not be more grateful for the amazing experiences that have come my way. Performing has given me the opportunity to feel exhilarated.”
Union’s Got Talent will take place on Saturday, September 24, at 7:00 p.m., at the Union High School Theater.
