UNION, NJ – The Township Committee introduced Union's newest police officer on Tuesday evening at its committee meeting.

Officer Michael Taub was born and raised in Union, attended Union public schools, and received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Kean University.

Taub began his career as a dispatcher for the Westfield Police Department, then became a Union County Sheriff’s officer in 2017.  On Jan. 4, he was sworn into Union’s police force with six other officers, who are currently attending the police academy.

“The Township Committee is committed to making sure the safety is our number one priority and making sure both our police and fire units are kept up to staff,” said Deputy Mayor Joseph Florio.
