UNION, NJ – Students at St. Michael’s Parish School celebrated a new school sign and repaired flagpole on Friday morning, Veterans Day.

Joined by Mayor Manuel Figueiredo and several township veterans, students sang “You’re a Grand Old Flag” as the flag was raised on the new equipment in front of the school on Kelly Street.

“Parents worked for two years fundraising for this,” said Antoinette Telle, School Principal.  “We now have a beautiful new sign and a repaired flagpole with a solar dome on top.”  Telle said the flagpole was repainted, the missing rope was replaced and a light was added.

Telle said a Gardening Club of third and fourth grade students will maintain the garden around the sign.
