UNION, NJ - Volunteers helped clean debris and litter from three of Union's waterways on Saturday morning at the fourth annual Waterway Cleanup event.
"This is a good way to get the community involved in helping keep our waterways clean," said Department of Public Works Director Louie Ulrich. "These tributaries lead to the Rahway River, and then out to bigger bodies of water, so it's important to keep them clean."
Volunteers worked at Joe Collins Park on Liberty Avenue, Sayre Park on Sayre Road, and Brookside Park on Faitoute Avenue.
"It's important that we call come out as a community and work together to support our environment," said Township Committeewoman Suzette Cavadas.
