UNION, NJ – Despite a rainy beginning, the First Annual ‘We Are Union’ Field Day took place on Saturday for kids in grades K – 4.

In his welcoming remarks, Mayor Manuel Figueiredo thanked Sergeant Mike Bolls and other Union police officers, DPW, the Board of Education, and “all of the groups that came together to put this event on.”  The Mayor ended his remarks by saying, “a few raindrops are not going to stop us.”  Thirty obstacles were set up for the children to navigate – run through, around, on top of and under.

“Even though the weather wasn’t friendly,” said event organizer Mike Bolls, “we were able to work together and have a great community event.  It’s so wonderful being able to see so many volunteers come together for our local children.”
