On Wednesdays June 1 and June 15 at 7 p.m., the Westfield Memorial Library will present two creativity workshops entitled “It’s in Your Hands” and “It’s about Time.” The library is located at 550 East Broad Street, Westfield.

The presenter is Westfield resident and poet Wendy Rosenberg. In “Its in Your Hands," participants are invited to explore through writing, poetry, and a hands-on art activity the things they know first-hand, have kept close at hand, made by hand, touched, pointed to, grabbed onto, held in their hands, or, perhaps, had in the palm of their hand.

“Our hands connect us to the world and the world to us,” said Ms. Rosenberg. “They are filled with memories, sensations, and experiences we have collected throughout the course of our lives. You do not have to be experienced at art or writing to benefit from this workshop.”

In the second workshop, “It’s about Time,” participants will have a chance to create a new relationship with time, one that nourishes and enhances, rather than frustrates or worries. “If you ever find yourself saying, ‘There's never enough time,’ or ‘I can't find the time,’ then it's time to change your thoughts about time,” said Ms. Rosenberg. “In this workshop, we will use creativity to explore our personal relationship with time and will delve into our quantitative and qualitative experiences with time.”

Ms. Rosenberg is a teacher with 21 years of experience as a poet. She became a Certified Applied Poetry Facilitator (CAPT) through the National Federation of Biblio/Poetry Therapy, and is a member of the National Association for Poetry Therapy (NAPT). She attended the Expressive Arts Institute at Salve-Regina University where she received training as an Expressive Art Education Facilitator.

The programs are free and open to Westfield Memorial Library and MURAL cardholders. (MURAL cardholders belong to the 43 libraries that are part of the Middlesex Union Reciprocal Agreement Libraries.
