BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — Rescue dogs will be seeking perfect forever homes at Home for Good Dog Rescue’s Eighth Annual “Bark-a-Que” & Dog Adoption Event, to take place at Planet Honda in Union, NJ on Sunday, Sept. 9.
The pet-friendly event, to which attendees are encouraged to bring their own dogs, will take place from 11 AM to 4 PM at 2285 Route 22 West in Union, NJ and feature on-site adoptions, food and drink, family activities, professional photos, canine contests—including the annual ‘Mr. and Mrs. Bark-a-Que’ Costume Contest—and on-site prizes and giveaways.
“We are thrilled to partner with Planet Honda as this year’s hosts,” Richard Errico, Home for Good’s co-founder and treasurer, said. “And we cannot wait to invite our entire community to celebrate with us at this exciting large-scale family fun and adoption day!”
As the No. 1 Honda certified dealership in New Jersey and one of the 10 largest Honda dealerships in the U.S., Planet Honda in Union, NJ is equipped to provide buyers with the inventory, service specialists, and finance team necessary to buy, lease or maintain their Honda.
And in addition to welcoming the general public and all of Home for Good’s adoptive families as this year’s hosts, they look forward to allowing Sept. 9 to become the rescue’s largest adoption event of the year.
Honda Boy adopted his own dog, Effie, from Home for Good Dog Rescue in April 2018.
“We rescue all our dogs from high-kill shelters throughout South Carolina and Georgia, nurture them at our rescue facility in Aiken, SC, and transport them northward to New Jersey for adoption,” Errico said. “The more animals we are able to adopt out, the more we can take in with the goal of clearing shelter space in the southern states, which experience high rates of euthanasia and significant overpopulation of unwanted animals.”
As a 100-percent foster-based organization, Home for Good then places each animal with a volunteer family rather than in a kennel or shelter until adoption into a loving, permanent home.
“Our stringent application and background-checking process matches each dog with the right family, affording us a return rate of less than 4-percent,” Errico continued.
Interested adoptive homes are encouraged to apply for adoption online at www.HomeforGoodDogs.org prior to Sept. 9. Included in each dog’s adoption fee are a healed spay or neuter procedure, a complete history of vaccinations, lifetime microchip registration, and a collar and leash.
“We take pride in providing each and every dog with as much high-quality care as possible and make every effort to only pass a fraction of that onto our network of nearly 6,500 adoptive families,” Errico explained.
This year, Home for Good Dog Rescue also encourages attendees to register early as “Bark-a-Que VIPs” by visiting www.HomeforGoodDogs.org. For a suggested donation to the organization’s rescue mission, families can avoid the line at the entrance on Sept. 9 and receive a special gift bag.
This year’s event is made possible at the platinum level by JL Media, Inc.; at the gold level by Westfield Veterinary Group and Response Automotive; at the silver level by Wells Fargo, The Law Firm of Schiller, Pittenger & Galvin, Investors Bank, Roy Morance, and The Law Offices of Bruce E. Baldinger, LLC; at the bronze level by Laura Heflich DeCotiis and Marc Heflich, Schechner Lifson Corporation, Boll & Branch, Smoothie King in Summit, NJ, PAWSitive Energy, LLC, Pet Supplies Plus Garwood, and Sotheby’s International Realty’s Ryan McGurl Team.
