UNION, NJ – Union's 12th Annual All-American Soap Box Derby took place down Stuyvesant Avenue Thursday morning, the Fourth of July.

Justin Gawel took home the first place trophy in this year's event and Christian Cuellar took home second place.

“We are proud to offer this great event for the kids of Union”, said Superintendent of Recreation Robert Cowper.  “It’s a really exciting event and the kids love it.”

The derby, in its 12th year, had twenty-four racers flying down Stuyvesant Avenue in elimination rounds.  About an hour-and-a-half of racing fun saw a couple of crashes, but no one was injured.
