UNION, NJ - Actors, a film crew, and production assistants roamed the streets of Union on Monday, when filming for an upcoming HBO miniseries took place on some of Union's residential streets.

Around noon, a scene was being set up at a home on Barbara Avenue, near the intersection of High Street.  Vintage cars lined the street and were parked in some of the nearby driveways.  Actors, dressed in 1940s clothes, waited for their call.

According to a production assistant on site, the miniseries is called "Plot Against America".  It is a period piece, set in the 1940s.  No timeframe was provided for when the show will air, but probably "not until next year".

The Union Police Department was on site and blocked off roads from Barbara Avenue, between Gless Avenue and High Street, Orange Avenue, between Kay Avenue and High Street, and Shetland Drive and Wilshire Drive from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday.  A CodeRed alert about the closures was sent to residents in the area on Sunday.
